Newcomers oust 2 from Parkway school board

By Tom Stankard
ROCKFORD - Two newcomers ousted an incumbent in the tightly contested race to fill two seats on Parkway Local Schools Board of Education during Tuesday's general election.
School district voters across Mercer, Auglaize and Van Wert counties elected Talon Bates and Tara Patterson to serve on the school board. Four-year school board member Jeff Armstrong collected the fewest votes.
Bates received the most votes with 655, followed by Patterson with 466 and Armstrong with 456, in final unofficial numbers.   Patterson, 40, said she is excited for the opportunity to serve on the board.
Bates, 54, could not be reached for comment by press time.
