David "Dave" Atkinson, age 79, of Celina, passed away on August 13, 2022 at 8:30 am at his residence.

He was born September 1, 1942 in West Haven, Connecticut. He married Sue (Spain) Atkinson on August 9, 1985 and she survives at the residence in Celina.

Other survivors include his children, Elizabeth Atkinson, Russells Point, Ohio and Julie Stewart, Sidney, Ohio; five grandchildren, Kara, Zac, Ashley, Abby and Amber; and many great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Betty (Hill) Johnson; and his daughter, Renee Postle.

Dave proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He worked for many years as a truck driver and a boat mechanic. Working on boats was Dave's passion, he probably had forgotten more than others even knew about boats. In his early years he also worked for his family at Sandy Beach Amusement Park, fixing and repairing rides for all to enjoy. Dave was a jet boat enthusiast and enjoyed spending time at Indian Lake, watching Nascar and working on car engines.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, September 1, 2022 from 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm at Cisco Funeral Home in Celina. Immediately after the gathering the family invites everyone to the Celina American Legion for dinner and a continued celebration of Dave's life.
