Mary Greenlee
Mary Elizabeth (Ford) Greenlee, 80, born in Celina, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, August 28th, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family.
Mary was born on March 31, 1944, as the second of five children to Phillip Ford and Melva (Rosie) Carr. Raised in her hometown of Washington Courthouse, Ohio, she graduated from Washington High School in 1962. She spent several years living in Russellville, Arkansas, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, and, more recently, Rogersville, Alabama. She lived most of her life in Washington Courthouse and Columbus, Ohio.
Working as an accounts payable specialist until she was 65, Mary strongly believed that working kept her young. She retired three times, and most recently served as an assistant at Rogersville Funeral Home until last December.
An avid homemaker and master organizer, Mary's nurturing presence made every house feel like a home. She was a skilled cook and never turned down an opportunity to bake or fix a warm meal for her friends and family. She also loved to shop in her free time, building a considerable collection of jewelry and Snowbabies.
Mary was forever dedicated to her loved ones, spending her recent months guiding and caring for her adoring daughters Trish and Becky, grandchildren and partners Halie (James) and Dylan (Alexis) and great-grandchildren James and Elijah; her sister Shirley and her brother Larry.
She was preceded by her grandparents, Guy Ford, Gertrude (Flynt) Ford, Zelma (Burley) Carr and Loren Carr; her parents Phillip and Rosie; her brother Ed; her sister Sue; her first husband John; and her life-partner Bud.
Her warmth and motherly presence lives on through her friends and family. She is survived by members of her family and extended Alabama family Amy, Jason, Bree, Matt, Josie, Bonnie, Brian, Megan, Jim, Garrett, Andi, Leanna, McKinna, Elaine, Toni, Pam, Blayne, Wayne, Melissa, Jonathan, Traci, Mason, Mrs. Belue, Susan and Dan.
In honoring her wishes, cremation will follow. Memorial contributions may be made to Lap of Love veterinary end-of-life care services serving the greater Columbus area.
