Edwin Hoenie
Edwin H. Hoenie, Jr. age 81 of St. Marys, Ohio, passed away on July 30, 2026 at Vancrest Nursing Home in St. Marys.
He was born October 23,1944 in Celina, Ohio to Edwin H. Hoenie, Sr and A. Janette (Wright) Hoenie and they preceded him in death. On October 10, 1987 he married his best friend Connie S. (Reed) Hoenie, and she survives in St. Marys.
He is survived by three children: Shyla M. (Hoenie) Houser, Kelly J. (Jason) Brickner and Joshua M. (Cicely) Muntzinger. He is also survived by four sisters Arlene Salzmann, Denise (Larry) Westgerdes, Diane (Steve) Alverado and Angela Dalton. Brother-in-law Bill (Vicki) Reed and sister-in-law Marge Hoenie. Ed is also survived by six beloved grandchildren. Camdan (Danielle) Houser, Ashdan (Kylie) Houser, Matt (Chelsea) Cheeseman, Nick (Katie) Cheeseman, Madison Muntzinger and Alayna Muntzinger, 11 great-grandchildren; plus a number of nieces and nephews.
Ed was preceded in death by brother, Gary Hoenie, grandson, Jordan Houser, brother-in-law, Lavern Salzmann and brother-in-law Eugene Reed.
Ed was an avid fisherman and enjoyed hunting, gardening and spending time with his family. He and Connie enjoyed traveling and took some wonderful trips together. Ed retired from Crown Equipment Corp in 2002. Ed was the first plant manager of the Celina plant, and was instrumental in its design. Over the years he developed Crown's robotic welding program and assisted with curriculum/training with the Tri Star and Apollo J. V. S. welding programs.
He was a member of the American Welding Society. He worked at St. Marys Chrysler part time for seven years following his retirement from Crown.
There will be no services.
Burial will be at North Grove Cemetery in Celina, Ohio.
