Thomas Busse
Thomas Alvin Busse, age 85, of Friemering Road, Fort Loramie, passed away of natural causes early Tuesday morning, April 8, 2025, at The Landings of Sidney, in Sidney, Ohio.
He was born October 7, 1939, in Fort Loramie, Ohio, to the late Alvin & Evelyn (Fleckenstein) Busse. On April 16, 1966, at Port Jefferson Church of Christ, Tom married Janet (Staley) Busse who survives.
Also surviving are four children: Tamara & Kurt Fielder of Quincy, Tab & Audra Worsham of Fairborn, Michael & Rebecca Busse of Russia and Pauline "Polly" & Dennis Orcutt of Sidney; nine grandchildren: Megan & Ben Kandel, Brice Geloff, Danielle Worsham, Jacob & Dani Worsham, Michael & Kimberly Busse, Allysia Busse, Nicholas Orcutt, Daniel Orcutt and Miranda Orcutt as well as nine great-grandchildren; two siblings, Michael A. & Paula Busse of Colorado, Susan & Jack Heyne of Saint Marys and a brother-in-law, Charles & Barbara Staley of Sidney along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Anne Busse.
Mr. Busse was a 1957 graduate of Fort Loramie High School. He had been a meat cutter all of his working life and worked at Busse and Sons Meat Market in Fort Loramie until it closed in 1989. Tom was a founding member of the Fort Loramie Historical Society. He loved working around the museum doing whatever he could to make it a beautiful place. Tom also enjoyed reading, keeping his car in good order, interacting with his loyal poodles and sitting down to savor a cold beer at the end of the day. Over the years, he especially enjoyed camping at Filburns Island and traveling the United States with his family.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM, Saturday, April 12, 2025, at Gehret Funeral Home in Fort Loramie with Deacon Paul Timmerman presiding. Interment will follow at Glen Cemetery in Port Jefferson.
Family and friends may call Friday, 4:00 to 7:00 PM and Saturday 9:00 to 10:00 AM at Gehret Funeral Home.
