Doris Cawood
Doris Loretta Cawood was called home to be with the Lord in the afternoon of Saturday October 28, 2018 in St. Marys, OH. She was surrounded by many loved ones and passed peacefully in her sleep at Vancrest Nursing Home.
She was born August 27, 1934 in Pineville, KY to Chester and Cora (Gibson) Sharp. She married Henry Hodge Cawood, affectionately known as "Duck", in 1954 and they lived in Toledo until 1973, when they moved to St. Marys, OH where they lived out the remainder of their days.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory: daughter Cathy Jaeger of Toledo, OH; son Audie (Cynthia) Cawood of St. Marys, OH; grandchildren: Heather (Julian) Boose, Diana Kanneman, John Kanneman, Melissa (David) Hunter, Courtney (Logan) Cawood, Jennifer (John) Young; step-grandchildren: Scoot Tharp and Jeremy Tharp; great-grandchildren: Colleen, Jewlia, Julian, Gabe, Dominique, Audrey, Jasmine, Kaylee, Emily and David; great-great-granddaughter Lydia; sister Gertrude Wilder of Pineville, KY; sister Hazel (Robert) Adams of St. Marys, OH; brother Alan (Velma) Sharp of St. Marys, OH; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews who were greatly loved.
She was preceded in death by: parents Chester and Cora Sharp; husband Henry Hodge "Duck" Cawood; brother Caleb Sharp; brother-in-law William Wilder; son-in-law Scott Jaeger
She worked at Allied Gear Corp., BR & W Tool Co., and Wapakoneta Manor Nursing Home. Loretta loved her Kentucky Wildcats and Atlanta Braves up until the time dementia reared its ugly head. Her family gave her the greatest joy and she often referred to Cathy and Audie as her greatest accomplishments. Special thanks to the staff at Vancrest and the Hospice nurses for taking such wonderful care of her in the last days of her life.
Rites are scheduled to begin 10:00 a.m. Friday November 2, 2018 at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road (Ohio 703 West Chapel) in St. Marys.
Burial will follow at the Resthaven Memory Gardens, near Moulton, OH.
Visitation 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
