Thomas Muhlenkamp
Thomas Edward Muhlenkamp, age 80, of rural Rockford, gave up his fight to stay with us on Friday, October 26, 2018, at Mercy Health-St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima.
He was born September 28, 1938, in Geneva, IN, the son of the late Charles J. "Carl" & Lucile A. (Spangler) Muhlenkamp. Tom married Nancy Krotzer on June 9, 1973, and she survives, along with a son, Thomas (Amy) Muhlenkamp of Houston, OH, daughter, Julie Huddleston of Columbus, step-sons: Kenneth (Donna) Link of Mendon, Terry (Rosemary) Link of Auburn, IN, and Randy (Trish) Link of Celina, sisters: Rose Dirksen of Greenville and Joan (Larry) Hesson of North Star, ten grandchildren, many great grandchildren, and an uncle, Carl (Velma) Spangler and brother-in-law, Norman Alt, both of St. Henry.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Lou Alt, who was waiting for him in Heaven.
Tom was a 1956 graduate of Mendon-Union High School, and served with the U.S. Army, stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He was a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church, Rockford. Many knew Tom for his love of horses and goats. For years, his dairy farm was the only one in the State of Ohio that produced Grade A goat's milk. Tom was very proud of this distinction. A hard working man, Tom milked the over 150 head of goats each day, while maintaining full-time employment off the farm. He had worked for Mercer Landmark at Rockford and Ohio City, then for John Sites at the Neptune Elevator, before finally retiring at the age of 75.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, November 2, at Immaculate Conception Church in Celina. Fr. Vince Wirtner, C.PP.S. will preside.
