Gusty southwest winds will become westerly this afternoon. The strong winds and the recently fallen snow is resulting in some blowing and drifting snow, especially across rural and open areas. This may result in rapid changes in road conditions over short distances. Motorists should exercise extra caution.
ST. MARYS - A committee seeking to revitalize downtown St. Marys, encourage people to support their local businesses and possibly teach prospective
business owners what hurdles they should expect is forming after a Monday town hall meeting.

COLDWATER - A juvenile male was arrested Sunday night after reportedly threatening two women and assaulting a police officer.
The Coldwater Police Department responded to a disturbance call at Briarwood Village at about 10:50 p.m. Sunday according to a news release. Two female employees who were entering the facility said they'd been confronted by an unknown male who had reportedly threatened to harm them. SHAWNEE TOWNSHIP - Hits were beginning to fall for the St. Marys ACME team.
Then rain began to fall in Shawnee Township.
Van Wert held a 5-2 lead on St. Marys in the sixth inning on Monday in the District 5 ACME championship when a heavy rain rolled through and forced the game's postponement. The teams will resume today at 5 p.m. at Shawnee High School. [More]
Administrators, classified staff will see increases
MARIA STEIN - Marion Local Schools board of education members on Monday night moved to increase the salaries of administrators by 2.5% and classified employees by 3%.
CELINA - School board members at Monday's meeting eliminated two classified employee positions.
Members voted to eliminate Mercer County Head Start employees Tom Muhlenkamp's and Nick Fleck's positions as two-hour bus driver and two-hour bus aide, respectively.
ROCKFORD - Police are still investigating after a vehicle used by a suspect in a high-speed chase was found abandoned in a wooded area about a mile off the road.
Mercer County Engineer Jim Wiechart reminds landowners and farmers that corn that has been planted and is encroaching in the road rights-of-way can be a very serious sight problem on narrower township and county roads.
