Douglas Heitkamp
Douglas M. Heitkamp, age 54, of Maria Stein, Ohio, died on Friday, December 3, 2021, at Coldwater Community Hospital.
He was born December 13, 1966, in Coldwater, to Patricia (Pazitney) Heitkamp & the late Othmer Heitkamp. Doug's mother Patricia survives in Maria Stein. On July 3, 2004, he married Denise (Dues) Heitkamp, and she survives in Maria Stein.
Doug is survived by his four children: Justin & Chasity Bachman of Piqua, Kristin Bachman of Conover, Aleah Heitkamp and Holden Heitkamp at home in Maria Stein. Also surviving are Doug's siblings, Angie Crider of Celina, Tracy & John Drees of Ft. Loramie, and Eric & Brandy Heitkamp of Minster, his father and mother-in-law, Ken & Jeanette Dues of Ft. Recovery, and in-laws, Brian & Jill Dues of St. Henry, Nick & Jenny Dues, Steve & Mindy Dues, and Matt & Danielle Dues all of Ft. Recovery, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
In addition to his father, Doug is preceded in death by a brother-in-law Chris Crider.
Doug had a bigger than life personality. He never knew a stranger and was always putting others before himself, helping anyone in need. Doug was a hard worker and was passionate about agriculture and his business, The Heit-field Group. He was a loving and caring son, brother, husband, father, and friend. Whenever asked how he was doing, Doug responded with his motto, "I'm living the dream," and he meant it. Doug enjoyed being a part of the St. John Catholic Church in Maria Stein, the men's sodality at the church, the Celina Moose, and rooting on the Marion Local Flyers, especially in football. In Doug's spirit of caring for others and selflessly giving, he was an organ and tissue donor, so though his life here on earth is finished, he lives on in his gifts to others.
A mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, December 10, 2021, at St. John Church in Maria Stein. Burial will follow the mass in St. John's Cemetery.
