Rockford Police Chief Paul May's dash cam recorded this video of Lucas J. Jackson fleeing authorities. Jackson was initially involved in a crash near Hoenie and Fast roads where he reportedly crashed into the rear of another vehicle.

The driver of a 2003 Pontiac stopped to help the crash victims and reportedly was then threatened by Jackson with a screwdriver. Jackson then stole the Pontiac and made his way to State Route 707 and proceeded west.

May pursued the vehicle on 707, and after several miles at speeds up to 75 mph, Jackson lost control and crashed upside down in a field.

Saturday's paper will have the full story.
