Ernest Buening
Ernest G. Buening, age 92, of Coldwater, died Sunday, January 8, 2017 at his home.
He was born November 4, 1924 in Coldwater to the late Bernard & Julianna (Bruggeman) Buening. On February 15, 1958 he married Dorothy (Stukenborg) and she survives in Coldwater.
He is survived by children: Robert Buening of Celina, Elaine & Nick Lombardo of Florence, Montana, James Buening of Coldwater, and Nancy & Eric McDermitt of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; 13 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; siblings: Roman Buening of Maria Stein, Mary (Robert) DeMange of Ansonia, and Marita (Tony) Grilliot of Celina; and in laws: Jane Buening of Coldwater, Juanita Buening of St. Henry, Leona Knapke of St. Henry, Pat Vondrell of Kettering and Art & Joyce Stukenborg of St. Henry.
He is preceded in death by his daughter-in-law Lisa Buening; siblings and in laws: Clarence Buening, Louis Buening, Paul Buening, Albert Buening, Greg & Helen Buening, Urban & Rita Buening, Norma Buening, Luke Vondrell, Louis Knapke, Bob & Adeline Reigelsperger, Bill & Donna Stukenborg, Margaret & Hugo Schoenlein, Father Robert Stukenborg and Marcella Reilly.
He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Coldwater, the Holy Name Society of the church, the Coldwater Knights of Columbus, and he was very active with the Coldwater Eagles serving as secretary for many years and was on the degree team and attended many State and National conventions. Ernie worked for The Daily Standard in Celina for 54 years.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 am Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at Holy Trinity Church, Coldwater. Burial will follow in St. Elizabeth Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 7 pm on Tuesday and 9 to 10 am Wednesday at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Coldwater.
