Nursery owner selling hydrangeas to raise funds for suicide prevention

CELINA - For a local business owner, it's not about him - it's about preventing suicide.
Tim Homan Sr., owner of Homan Nursery, is selling Little Quick Fire hydrangeas for $20 at the Celina Farmers Market on Saturday. All proceeds will benefit Area Suicide Support and Resources (ASSURE), a local organization dedicated to educating the community about mental health and preventing suicides. [More]

NEW BREMEN - The New Bremen Library will open a new chapter in its history Thursday with the unveiling of a $500,000 renovation project.
The library, located at 45 S. Washington St., was closed during August as crews moved in to make the first major changes since the building was nearly doubled in size in 1990. [More]

NEW KNOXVILLE - Plenty of pressure led to a good result for New Knoxville as they defeated Lima Central Catholic 4-0 in Western Ohio Soccer League boys soccer action on Tuesday evening at Community Park.
The Rangers (3-3, 1-1 WOSL) spent most of the contest on the attack and had a high number of shots. They scored three times in the first half, then tacked on one for good measure in the second. [More]

ROCKFORD - Village councilors on Tuesday evening heard a series of changes the village is implementing to update how organizations and people can rent out the park.
CELINA - A 33-year-old city public works employee who was struck by a vehicle while inspecting a storm sewer in a catch basin on Friday should be released from a hospital soon, Celina Mayor Jeff Hazel told the newspaper.
FORT RECOVERY- Village councilors at a special meeting on Tuesday evening amended the 2024 budget by $65,000 in order to purchase a new police cruiser.
CHATTANOOGA - A Rockford man was charged with driving under the influence on Tuesday afternoon after his vehicle collided with a white van at the intersection of State Route 49 and Strable Road. Passengers of the white van sustained minor injuries.
CELINA- A 50-year-old Coldwater woman was put on probation Tuesday for safecracking.
Kimberly L. Slaven was sentenced to up to three years of community control sanctions on one count of safecracking, a fourth-degree felony.
MINSTER - Village councilors on Tuesday night awarded a $402,500 contract to a Minster firm to construct a new shelter house at Paris Street Park, even though the bid exceeded the estimate by $22,500.
CELINA - Wabash Road between Oregon Road and Frahm Pike in Liberty Township will be shut down on Monday for a bridge replacement, according to Mercer County Engineer Jim Wiechart.
New Bremen defeats St. Marys for second straight win
NEW BREMEN - After a rare loss, the New Bremen Cardinals are back to normal.
Since last week's setback against St. Henry, Bremen has posted back-to-back sweeps, the most recent of which came Tuesday over St. Marys (25-12, 25-14, 25-12) at the Nest.
